In this fun and interactive course, you’ll dive deeper into bidding strategies, improve your card play, and learn how to communicate more effectively with your partner. Did you know that understanding “tricks” is key to making your contracts? You’ll get plenty of practice, feel supported every step of the way, and continue to grow your skills—all the while having a great time at the table.

This two-part dementia education series begins with foundational knowledge about dementia, including its definition, types, stages, progression, the importance of getting a diagnosis, and addressing common myths. The second part focuses on brain health in the context of dementia, covering natural age-related changes, dementia risk reduction, brain training, and concludes with practical strategies to build supportive, inclusive communities for those affected by dementia.

As we age, maintaining a good quality of life means becoming active partners with our healthcare providers and the Health Authority. In this course, we’ll explore effective ways to communicate with your healthcare team, key questions to ask, and how to advocate confidently for yourself or a loved one. We’ll also review three main pathways that can help you remain comfortable and supported in your own home. Join us to learn the benefits and challenges of each option—with plenty of time for questions and open discussion.

Join us for four sessions of lively but focused seminar-type presentations, where participants will be encouraged to consider and comment on four to six newsworthy topics each week. The course leader, Rod MacKinnon, avidly follows current events in the news. Each week he will focus on topics of interest at the international, national, and local levels.
Participants will also be encouraged to present talking points for a newsworthy topic of their choosing. If you like to share your opinions and insights on what is happening in the wider world as well as closer to home, while staying up to date with matters affecting us all, then this is the course for you.

Join us for an inspiring presentation by Linda Thornton, Co-Founder and Director of Breeding and Canine Care at the BC & Alberta Guide Dogs. Discover the remarkable journey of this Delta-based organization—from its founding in 1996 to its current role as a leader in training Guide Dogs, Autism Service Dogs, and PTSD Service Dogs across Western Canada.
Linda will share stories from the front lines of puppy raising and canine care, highlight the organization’s exciting expansion plans, including their new Centre of Excellence, and explain how these purpose-bred dogs transform lives by offering independence, safety, and companionship. A trained Guide Dog will be present in the classroom, giving attendees a chance to see firsthand the incredible bond between dog and handler.

Narrated by Harrison Ford, this movie was originally exhibited in IMAX and Giant Screen Theatres. Come to see this beautiful movie projected to our large screen at ElderCollege and enjoy some pizza and conversation afterwards.

Join the experts from the Delta Heritage Society for a hands-on workshop filled with proven tips, tools, and techniques to break through those stubborn brick walls in your family history search.
Note: This is a limited-size class which allows for a more personal approach; register early to secure your spot! Students should bring their own laptops/device to work on.

Thursday, Nov 20th. 10:00 – Noon Location: ElderCollege Learning Centre
We’ll start with a brief history of the development of submarines from the first iterations to the present day, and the employment of these vessels, often called “U-boats”, as tactical and strategic weapons of war in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Then we’ll move into Canada’s need for submarines to protect our sovereignty and defend the shores of our three oceans, the sad state of our current submarine fleet and the choices we face. Can we upgrade our undersea capabilities satisfactorily without going nuclear?
