Come spend a fun day with us on City Transit and travel to Lonsdale Quay.  We will have time to explore, shop and lunch.  This will be an opportunity to take all that BC Transit offers, the bus from Tsawwassen to Bridgeport, Skytrain to Vancouver, Sea Bus to North Vancouver.   We will take some time and wander around Lonsdale Quay and to see the new developments at the Shipyards. We will return to Tsawwassen the same way – via transit.  Fee includes your B.C. Transit pass for the day. Note, dress for whatever the weather and wear good shoes for walking.

Experience the cutting edge of physics at TRIUMF, home to the world’s largest cyclotron of its kind and a suite of advanced particle accelerators. Spanning a 13.5-acre site, TRIUMF has more than a kilometer of beamlines powering groundbreaking discoveries in nuclear and particle physics, accelerator science, and life sciences.  On this 45-60 minute guided tour, you’ll follow the journey of a proton—from its origin in a hydrogen atom to its role in state-of-the-art experiments. Visitors will explore major research halls and witness firsthand the facilities that connect Canadian science to international collaborations like CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research).

    Important Information:

    • Tours require walking, stair climbing, and standing.
    • Closed-toe shoes are mandatory.
    • Due to strong magnetic fields, guests with pacemakers, cochlear implants, and other implanted medical devices can participate, but further cautions are exercised.

TRIUMF is committed to safety, and all guests must review guidelines before arrival. Here is a link to the safety guidelines.   Are you ready to step into the fascinating world of particle physics?

Join us for a guided experience at the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary. We will begin with a brief orientation in the Lecture Hall, where we can explore museum collections. A guided, biologist-led walk follows highlighting the Sanctuary’s role in supporting migratory birds and wildlife. Located in the Fraser River estuary, the Sanctuary features diverse habitats, including wooded areas, ponds, and tidal mudflats.  You will be able to explore trails, observe wildlife from the tower, and learn about the estuary’s ecological importance. Guides discuss bird identification, wildlife needs, and key terminology Since most of the program is outdoors, participants should dress appropriately for the weather and wear footwear suitable for uneven ground on the walking tour.
