About a decade ago, we entered the age of the Digital Dead. Deathbots, or Griefbots, are reshaping how we grieve and relate to the deceased. Yet death has long intersected with technology—photographs, recordings, telegraphs—each preserving fragments of presence. Today, amid promises of approaching singularity and general AI, our data and that of our loved ones—living and lost—fuel this generative explosion. It’s not hyperbole to say AI is the manifestation of humanity haunting itself. Nor to say these digital ghosts are owned and governed by tech corporations. In this talk, Dr. Fellows explores what this might mean for grief, loss, and our evolving sense of self.

Presenter, Dr J. Fellows: Douglas College Philosophy Professor,  Media Fellow of the Marc Sanders Foundation, Author.

    1 session, $15.  Class size: max 30
