The Snow Goose population overwintering on the Fraser and Skagit river deltas has increased from 15K in the mid-1970s to 150K today. The increased population coincided with a 50% decline in their preferred marsh food, bulrush. In addition, the top 200m of the bulrush zone at Westham Island has disappeared completely, largely due to Snow Geese. This has implications for other species, including Chinook salmonid fry that stage in the estuary marshes and sloughs.

Come to this class and learn how wildlife management agencies work towards to deciding what levels of Snow Geese and bulrush marsh are desirable and what kinds of corrective prescriptions may need to be implemented.

1 Session, $15, Class size:  max 35
