    Through focused breath work, guided meditation and gentle movement, you will learn about yourself and how you relate to stress. Designed for every body, regardless of physical mobility, this four-week series will provide tools for dealing with daily stress and related anxiety. Each session will include a facilitated circle where you may share and learn from others. With weekly themes and home-practice suggestions, you will learn to apply stress relieving techniques in your everyday life.

    Note: please bring your own yoga mat and cushion. For those without their own, some props, mats and chairs will be available.

    This two-part dementia education series begins with foundational knowledge about dementia, including its definition, types, stages, progression, the importance of getting a diagnosis, and addressing common myths. 

    The second part focuses on brain health in the context of dementia, covering natural age-related changes, dementia risk reduction, brain training, and concludes with practical strategies to build supportive, inclusive communities for those affected by dementia.

    Come to this class and you will have a better understanding of dementia, ways to live with it and ways to support those with dementia.

    This Mini-Masterclass is designed to help you understand the changing needs of our skin as we age and how, as we age, the art of make-up changes as well.  Michelle and Christi, Beauty Specialists from our local Shoppers Drug Mart, will share pro tips on how to apply makeup on mature skin; from flawless day-makeup to evening-makeup. They will also talk about skin care for your changing skin; with topics including hydration, prevention and other concerns you may have.

    Do you want to plan a new garden or improve your existing one, either large or small?

    This interactive workshop is suitable for non-gardeners as well as seasoned gardeners, and a perfect class to do with a friend as participants will work in pairs and as a group. Bounce your gardening ideas out loud and share your inspirations. Learn the steps to create your own WOW!  Analysis, blueprint, construction; design for the evolution of your garden, flowers and other plants.

    What do pirates and astronauts have in common? Both spend much of their lives exploring faraway places onboard vessels that do not have ready access to fresh fruits and vegetables. So how did they stay healthy?

    Join us for this walking tour of Van Dusen Garden to learn about the innovative ways that seafarers and spacefarers have developed throughout history in order to survive their lengthy voyages! Note: this is a walking tour and there will be some uneven ground to navigate.
