Do I enjoy my own sound? What do I REALLY sound like? We will begin with useful everyday warm up exercises. These exercises will help us focus on the importance of the diaphragm to create and help with breathing techniques and vocal energy. We will look at the use of vowels to help with Diction and also at Posture, Vocal Range, and understanding of Resonance. You will develop awareness of tension anywhere in the body. Along with a wide repertoire of songs, we will work on song choices from the group as well. This will be a class where you are meant to have fun. No judgment allowed, so don’t worry if you think you can’t sing!

“Memoir” is from the French “memoire”, a factual non-fiction narrative of the author’s personal memories. A memoir often tells the story of a particular event or time, such as a touchstone moment or turning point in life.

In this class, we will look at ways to chronicle your life using your meaningful moments.  You will write stories about your life while keeping in mind that writing is deep thinking. You will surprise yourself!

When you come to class, please bring a memory that has significance for you. Also please bring some paper and pen or an electronic device to record your writing. We will be sharing our writing so also be prepared to accept that what we hear in class, stays in class. Confidentiality is key. We want to create a safe place for everyone to feel free to share and create in.
