The Colours of Africa (Part I)
Presenter: Guillermo Bustos (Retired Educator)

Do you remember studying Africa as a child? It was so easy! Just add a few colours to indicate the colonial empires. How many countries could you identify today? In this five-session zoom course, we will explore the evolution of Africa from the early 1900’s to the 1950’s. We will explore how Africa was partitioned among empires and how colonialism impacted world politics. We will examine how decolonization gradually took place, and how leaders of independence emerged.
Participants are expected to do pre-readings and some research and to share their findings.

5 sessions: $50 Class size: max 24
Thursdays: April 7, 14, 21, 28 and May 5 1:30-3:00pm
NOTE: offered online via Zoom.
